Chapter 205: Transcendent Eater
Chapter 205: Transcendent Eater
By now, there were eighty Parute Trees growing along the border, maintained without issues as over 200 Wean Clansmen had gathered and employed a variety of Skills to harvest the Parute Fruits.
Having Parute Fruits was always helpful, the more the better.
The source of the Parute Trees is an existence called the Transcendent Eater. It is a creature that lived amongst Transcendents, wielding the capability to revive any living being it consumes.
Moreover, its roots are capable of traversing the length of an entire Continent within a day and rapidly suck out its nutrients.
If left unchecked, a Transcendent Eater is capable of destroying an entire Continent. Regular Continents didn’t have the assistance of a Transcendent Eater and instead had to be on guard against rogue Transcendent Eaters.
Power Continents such as Sumatra had the means to keep a Transcendent Eater bound to it. Sumatra’s Transcendent Eater had been living exactly as that, serving the Continent’s interests since inception.
However, when the invasion happened, the Celestial Rotock personally took action specifically to kill Sumatra’s Transcendent Eater. Only after killing Sumatra’s Transcendent Eater did Nusantara Continent begin its invasion in full swing.
The roots of a Transcendent Eater can expand at a speed beyond the perception capabilities of a Continent’s native. They dig into the Sandy-Grey Void, treating the grey sand as nutrients to endlessly suck in energy and generate Prana.
This energy is then supplied to the Continent in the form of Parute Fruits. As the natives of the Continent constantly consume the Parute Fruits and further their cultivation, this Prana gathers as part of the Continent’s energy cycle.
Every Parute Fruit consumed in a Continent adds to its energy reserve. In this manner, across millions of years, a Continent’s foundation systematically increases. This was the benefit a Continent gained upon having control over a Transcendent Eater.
The faintest tendrils extending out of the roots of a Transcendent Eater burrow out of a Continent and emerge as Parute Trees. This is why their positioning seems deliberate in consideration of the population density of a region.
That was also why the moment the Sandy-Grey Void patch appeared within a Continent, Parute Trees appeared to treat the place. This was the Transcendent Eater taking action to ensure the Continent doesn’t get devoured by the Sandy-Grey Void.
Generally, no one would dare take advantage of a method like Torq to recklessly create a Sandy-Grey Void patch within the Continent. For even though the respective Continent’s Transcendent Eater will take care of the situation, they will end up gaining its ire.
Generally, the Continent’s Blessed Race will also sense if a patch appears within the Continent and would swiftly move to path up the Sandy-Grey Void patch.
Of course, if the Transcendent Eater feels irritated, it would just allow the Sandy-Grey Void to expand for a while. With its exponential pace of expansion, no native can outpace it. So, the culprit will be devoured by it within a matter of time.
After that, the Transcendent Eater will intervene and revert the Sandy-Grey Void patch back into the Continent’s landmass.
This was why Torq was trolling the Nusantara Continent. After all, he intended to bait their responsive means.
Nusantara Continent’s Transcendent Eater would be forced to create Parute Trees to stop the growth of the Sandy-Gre Void patch. If it refrains from doing so, the patch will quickly grow and consume a portion of the Continent itself.
Torq was never worried about his actions causing him harm. After all, the Celestial Boar was on his side, an existence capable of controlling the Sandy-Grey Void.
Major Treasure–Empyrean Snapper!
Deities were called as such for a variety of reasons–their majestic bodies, their physical characteristics comprehensive enough to create a Mystic Grade cultivation technique, their level of power that far outclasses other Expert Gold Grade Pranic Beasts, etc.
One of these reasons is that they could reach the Mystic Grade, as long as they satisfy certain conditions.
For an Empyrean Tusk, this condition is to accumulate their power to twist space within an internal organ to make a biome so massive, it could be considered a world. Upon success, it will enter the Mystic Grade.
Similarly, for an Empyrean Snapper, the condition is to treat the Sandy-Grey Void as part of the terrain it can control.
The Cooter Clan’s Deity, Wally, had already satisfied this condition. There was one other Empyrean Snapper, which had partially reached a necessary level, purely out of being turned into a Major Treasure.
That was Tanpral, once holding the position as the First Empyrean Snapper, and one of their strongest in the Cooter Clan’s history. He was part of the Dralh Sea branch, which was defeated by Brangara.
And then, in the bowl that is currently Prata City, Tanpral was eaten by Brangara and turned into a Tangible Nature.
Following that, Brangara nurtured Tanpral until the latter was elevated into becoming a Major Treasure. Reaching this point allowed Tanpral to wield a level of power closely mimicking what an Empyrean Snapper would have obtained had it entered the Mystic Grade.
Through Tanpral, Brangara is able to control the Sandy-Grey Void.
That was Torq’s source of confidence, and why he could take such an action that could have been deemed reckless.
As a result, the Parute Trees that appeared before him had been turned into a farm endlessly gathering Parute Fruits for the Wean Clan’s needs.
"How’s the feast?" Torq roared, "As long as our Ancestor is around, we can create as big of a Parute Tree farm as we need."
With Nusantara’s Transcendent Eater forced to take action, the Wean Clan could benefit tremendously. And obviously, if Nusantara Continent doesn’t like to be used for the benefit of the Wean Clan, it could always use another means.
Such as dispatching its Blessed Race, which should have the capability to seal up the patch or cause it to make a recovery.
"Amazing!"
"Garabuntara! Garabuntara! GaraBuntara!" As the crowd chanted his name, Torq kept an eye on the distance, wondering what Nusantara Continent’s next response would be, ’Are they going to let it be like this?’
"Of course not," He grinned upon seeing a powerful presence erupt from the distance, extremely far from his position.
It was an overbearing presence, unlike anything he had ever felt. However, the might of the presence never reached him, or rather, it just felt like a hollow shell, for the brunt of its power had already been dissipated by someone else.
Instinctively, Torq turned his head to stare at the figure of the Celestial Boar who was seated atop the Empyrean Tusk’s head. Even while afar, he could see the other party was...drooling.
’Perfect!’ Torq grew giddy.
