Chapter 352: The Tyrant.
Chapter 352: The Tyrant.
Valerian looked toward the barrier, and the Holy Maiden said, "The barrier will still hold for a few hours. We need to get you ready."
The young man looked back at her, and the Holy Maiden said, "Here. This is the armor."
She waved her hand, and a silver and blue-colored plate armor appeared between them. However, Valerian did not react much to it. His mind was disturbed by the shock waves coming from the barrier. The holy maiden could sense this and said, "Valerian, you are the only person who can take down that man."
The young man just stood there looking at the things happening around him. The holy maiden wanted to say something, but after she noticed the oddity in his behavior, she was forced to stay silent about it. Valerian was the calmest and sharpest mind she had seen. Now watching him disorientated was simply something she did not know how to deal with.
Valerian did not say anything and just watched the scene in a daze. Suddenly, Fragrantia appeared around them, then said, "Your Eminence, please move to the medic camp. I will talk to him."
The Holy Maiden nodded, and Valerian was dragged inside the tent after Fragrantia scooped the armor with her mana. She was panicked, and she was scared. She knew that the child she loved like her own would be off facing the biggest villain of the story, and he might not even come back, so she wanted to spend more time with it.
She was well aware that Valerian was not in a sound mind either. As a mother, she knew what the child was going through and what he needed to get him straight. If his head were not straight, he would have no chance of fighting the Tyrant and coming back alive.
Valerian stood in the center of the tent, and his eyes dazed, his body shivering every time he sensed a shock wave from the barrier. Fragrantia did not bother to wake him up. She channeled her mana inside the armor, and the artifact began dislocating.
Every part of this artifact separated from each other and levitated in the void. Fragrantia said, "This armor is made from the mixture of the toughest and the most malleable metals found in our world. Forged in the heat of dragon fire and quenched in the tears of Mermaids.
You know, those half-humans and half-fish magicals. I have to tell you they are super quick and wise."
She waved her hand, and the armor slowly began to attach itself to Valerian’s body. Fragrantia ensured that every piece fell into place and said, "Do you remember what kind of life you have spent for this one opportunity?"
Valerian shivered, but this time it was not from the shock wave, but the words of Fragrantia. He looked at her, but his gaze was still somewhat hazy. The lady asked, "Can you imagine what kind of life you would have had without that man killing your parents? How Fortuna would have had the warmth of her mother if not for that man?"
The more she spoke, the more she awakened Valerian. The young man wanted to say something but could not say anything. Fragrantia said, "You are bothered and scared of the uncertainty beyond this battle."
Valerian opened his eyes wide, and the lady said, "Don’t think I do not know you. You are my son, and I know the way you think. You always look toward what you will do in the future. However, this war was the only thing you ever looked after. Now that the war is about to begin, you are worried about what you will have in the future."
The young man was shivering because what Fragrantia said was the truth. Deep down in his heart, he worried about what to do after this battle.
Fragrantia sorted out his collar chain and said, "Morgana, you do not have to hide behind the chest. I can sense your presence."
Valerian’s mood shifted in a quick second. He turned around and found Morgana standing up from behind a chest. He asked, "Why were you hiding?"
The girl stared at the ground and blushed as she said, "I have no idea."
Valerian shook his head, and Fragrantia said, "After the dust settles. You are to come back and marry this girl. Live a life that your parents could not."
His eyes widened, and suddenly the earth shook.
...
While Fragrantia was talking to Valerian inside the tent, the Gladius Army had already reached the barrier, and they attacked the barrier without considering the result. The soldiers wearing black armor were fearless until they spotted the dragons beyond the barrier glaring at them.
The repeated attacks did not make a difference to the barrier. Suddenly, they heard a loud voice, "What are you afraid of? They cannot harm humans. Do not hesitate, and charge ahead with me."
The voice belonged to a general under Tyrant’s rule. This person wielded a long spear and looked valiant. However, the eyes of this person were filled with deceit.
As he finished speaking, a ball of fire penetrated the barrier and landed amidst the soldiers. The explosion was strong, and it made the enemy melt right away. The general was shocked when he was also faced with a loud sonorous voice, "You think that the dragons are weak because of the rules established by the gods? Fool, I have the right to kill all of you, and so does my kin."
The general was shocked to find a silver dragon flying on the other side of the barrier. Fortuna said, "I am Fortuna, the Queen of Dragons. Your Emperor, Coward Inferior, killed my parents with deceit. I wonder which hole he is hiding in."
The soldiers clenched their fists and attacked the barrier with great vigor. They were loyal to the Tyrant from the depth of their souls. The insult to their master was not to be tolerated. Fortuna chuckled and said, "Indeed, mindless bastards, all of you. Try and attack all you want. Let us see if that coward can save you from my rage."
The soldiers kept attacking, and Fortuna kept taunting. She was not aiming to kill them, but she was looking to make them all waste their energy so that in the battle, things ease up for the nervous soldiers of the Western continent.
Suddenly, a calm voice sounded, "To think that the Queen of dragons will resort to a method like this."
The vigor from the voice was strong, but Fortuna replied, "If, as an Emperor, you can kill your friend with deceit, eye his woman, and try to kill his unborn child. Then compared to you, I am still lacking."
The soldiers yelled, but a calm snort soothed them all. The man replied, "So you think calling me a coward will make things turn back to how they were?"
Fortuna shook her head and said, "No, it won’t, but I recite the truth ten times daily. You are a coward. A sinful coward who could not do anything alone, you tricked your best friend like this. Surely some high standards you have set."
Tyrant Immortuous replied, "You are enraging me on purpose. You wish to see how strong I am."
Fortuna shook her head and chuckled, "Wrong, you are not strong. You never were. The power you wield is because of the experiment you went through. That is all there is to you."
Tyrant Immortuous slowly walked ahead and said, "Before uniting the world. I will have to kill you to show my true strength."
Fortuna replied, "Hahaha, come see if I am afraid of you, Coward."
The next moment, the Tyrant reached the barrier and put up a fist. He said, "I am not half a dragon treasure. Do you think this barrier will be able to stop me?"
Fortuna shook her head and said, "Do you think that you can help your army after going out?"
Tyrant shook his head and said, "I will kill you, and the rest of the dragons will back off on their own."
Fortuna wanted to ask him why, but the man disclosed it himself. As he said, "I am Tyrant Imortuous, I challenge you, The Queen Of Dragons, to fight with me."
However, Fortuna replied, "Why?"
Immortuous was surprised and asked, "What do you mean why? This is a fair challenge."
Fortuna shook her head and said, "You are a traitor and I will not fall for your fair match skill. You have no right to issue a challenge to me."
As she said, Tyrant Immortuous placed his hand through the barrier without resistance and said, "Then it will be a war."
Fortuna nodded and said, "Welcome."
Tyrant Immortuous made a slashing gesture, and the barrier shook loudly. Just when Fortuna was ready to attack, she spotted a figure in silver armor slowly walking out of the troop lines. He said, "How about just you and me, Tyrant? Let us see if the world is big enough to accommodate both of us."
